Rite of Passage

A friend wisely advised me to create a ceremony for myself to make the trip to Africa a spiritually-grounded one.

For this trip I have done several things:
1. My dance students helped me to set intentions--I am taking along their presence, ideas, love, spirit, and encouragement.
2. My drum students have decided to fund a well in Ghana. The kickoff for the fundraising is a drum party the night before I leave. My dear friend Andy Jones who does admirable humanitarian work and who has chosen this well site, will come to facilitate the drum circle.
3. I have just gotten trained in Reiki so that I can help the surgical team that I will be meeting up with first. This technique is said to speed healing. I will do it wherever needed and especially in the post-op area.
4. My sister and an alchemist friend of hers did a ceremony with me of meditation and blessings. As always, my family and my wonderful husband have been my biggest supporters.

I feel as prepared as I can be!
